Legend has it, salt water taffy earned its name when a storm rolled on shore and flooded a candy shop. The candy was all soaked in ocean salt water, including the taffy. A young girl came into the shop to buy taffy. The owner jokingly gave her salt water taffy and it's now a seashore favorite.
