Carving walking sticks, wood-turnings, and creating artistic figures out of wood is a favorite hobby of Joe Severa. Each figure is hand carved from basswood, poplar, balsam, butternut, or spruce. Some of the wood is personally harvested in northern Wisconsin. While Joe's carving interests are varied, he particularly enjoys creating Santa figures. His wife Esther invests hours in Joe's hand-carved pieces. The carvings are painted with acrylics and sealed with a varnish or a German wax and buffed. Often providing ideas for projects, she acts as chief photographer and project coordinator. Esther also creates a variety of wood-burned art on common woods and cottonwood bark and colors them with oils or acrylics. This husband-wife team from Waunakee, Wisconsin, loves the Christmas holiday and has produced an assortment of JoYes Creations for your pleasure.
